Distressed Blue Door

On the road to Sligo, not far from Blacklion in County Cavan, there stands an old cottage that stops you in your tracks. Its render is faded, its blue door weathered by years of wind and rain — and yet it still offers something: a sense of welcome, of shelter, of a life once warmly lived within.

There's a particular beauty in these old places. The peeling paint, the worn stone, the quiet dignity of a building that has endured. This pastel drawing captures all of that — the colour, the texture, the feeling of standing on that road and looking in.
